So apparently, the Romanian festival was moved to next weekend. Alas.
I found the church despite I-94 chaos. Will be sooo glad when they finish that business. The roads to get there feel very post apocalyptic, like driving through deserted mountain towns or something. But the church rests at the top of a hill overlooking the Mississippi River and a small sandbar with pelicans! I local resident informed me last weekend was the best time to view this vantage point, as there was a boat show in St. Paul. Oh well.
Will try again to see the Romanian Festival on the 31st. Wish me luck!
